[edit] Mordialloc Boat Ramp

The Council run ramp in Governor Rd is good with

the jettes easily accessable. However the waterway from the ramp to the railway bridge is very shallow (<0.5 metre) and full of goo mud heavily contaminated with heavy metals. The body responsible for this section of the Mordialloc creek is Melbourne Water. With the cooperation of Kingston Council, dredging of the creek has been undertaken from the mouth to the railway bridge, but not beyond. Advice: If you want to keep your motor water pump in good condition and not stir up polluted materials for carriage into Port Phillip Bay, dont use it.

Recently this ramp has undergone an upgrade to access

platforms. The original fixed structures have been removed and replaced by a floating system of pontoons. The cost per day for usage (inc. parking) is $5.50. Plenty of loose change required. However the responsible body for the stretch of waterway from the ramp to the railway bridge, Melbourne Water, as far as can be ascertained at this point in time, has not increased water depth. Heed the previous warning re pumping mud through your engine.

Here is one of the photos as promised. My previous comments re shallow water still apply and will do so for at least 6 months. The resposible authorities who have a vested interest are the City of Kingston (parking and launch fees - $5.50/launch coins required), Melbourne Water Corporation (uses this waterway as a drain for the entire Dandenong Valley), Parks Victoria (responsibility for safe boating). EPA has a seat on the dredging committe involving the above, and whose recommendation is forwarded to DNRE for authorization to effect any improvements ie. dredging.
