Talk:Tuncurry
From Ramps
Tuncurry boat ramp is situated in Point Road 100 metres west of the bridge. The ramp has been recently restored after being in disrepair for many years. This is the quiet side of town and it takes a lot of trumpet blowing to get Great Lakes Council to commit funds this side of the bridge. The ramp is subject to scouring from the swift tidal current and, with the adjacent groin creating an eddie at the ramp, retrieval can be quite tricky, especially if the prevailing noreaster is blowing. When approaching in your boat, be very careful at the last minute when the eddie kicks in and reverses the direction of water flow. You can put your boat on the rock groin before you can say Jumpin' Jack Flash. Also be careful of sand on the ramp if you're not in a 4WD. Don't let your trailer wheels drop off the end of the concrete. --Hully 10:08, 28 December 2007 (EST)
