Virtual Collectible Card Game

Given that EverQuest has an economy worth several million dollars (*), I wonder what sort of temptation this represents to Sony?

After all, as the owner of the game, it could tax the players in all sorts of overt and covert ways...

Like CCGs, where people buy add-on packs to get more powerful decks, there's nothing really stopping Sony selling game items for real money, with the great advantage of zero manufacturing costs. Done with measure, it wouldn't even be any more a problem than the already existing (if officially forbidden) eBay trading; though of course even just cashing in and moving on would be a great windfall.

In some ways, the surprising thing is that nobody seems to be doing it yet...
