Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
Can Hollywood's DRM fixation be adequately explained by stupidity?
I guess if one consultant says DRM is not possible (and unwise besides), while another says that he can provide it, one is likely to believe the latter; and there probably are consultants who are willing to say that, take the money and run.
I suppose, then, that analog hole legislation proposals would be a natural progression...
Besides, even if it doesn't achieve any direct goals, it's still a question of power; most people would rather have more than less, and both DRM and any Analog Hole legislation would give power to Hollywood and the recording companies.
