Buckywell fusion

I wonder if nanotechnology will let us take individual atoms and make them undergo fusion; hold a single atom of boron and shoot a single atom of hydrogen at it, at exactly the right speed to result in fusion.

That would mean pocket-sized atomic power, which would be really good for all sorts of things, from the nanotechnology itself through various gadgets up to cars and trucks.

Thanks to Thorne for the lovely word "Buckywell"; a portmanteau of Buckyball and Polywell, it rolls of the tongue easily and evokes exactly the right feeling of futurism.
