Hollywood studios face competition from the Internet, competition whose main disadvantage is poor technical quality. Yet they seem to be making found-footage quality the new "in" thing!
When it was just The Blair Witch Project (1999), well, it was independent and probably just a blip. Now, however, there's also Cloverfield (2008) and Diary of the Dead (2007) with a planned sequel.
